The Kenneth V. Buzbee papers consist of correspondence, legislative bill files, voting records, committee reports, subject files, press releases, news clippings, artifacts, and a few artifacts and photographs. The papers extensively document Buzbee's activities as an Illinois state senator. They also cover his campaigns for state senate and his unsuccessful campaign for U.S. House. There is about three linear feet of material each for his work on the Illinois Energy Resources Commission and the National Conference of State Legislatures. Four linear feet of material documents his chairmanship of Senate Appropriates II committee, a committee formed for Buzbee because of his support for senate president Tom Hynes. Kenneth V. Buzbee was an Illinois state senator for the 58th district from 1973-1985. Buzbee was born on November 30, 1937 in Anna, Ill. He received a B.S. in Radio-TV and Government and an M.A. in Political Science from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
